Christmas comes to Main Street!
Don't forget to mark your calendars for the 10th Annual Christmas on Main Street which will take place this weekend on 5th and 6th December. As always there will be lots of music and lots to do and see. Don't forget to check out the entries in the Third Annual VI Grand Old-Time Bake-Off Contest which will be displayed in the Folk Museum during the festivities. Categories include Best Guava Tart, Best Black Cake and Best Jawbone Candy.
Montessori's Christmas Stop and Shop is Coming Up!
Montessori's Christmas Stop and Shop will soon be here again! The event takes place on Saturday 13th December between 10-2pm and tables are available for $30.00 to vendors to sell crafts. Please contact the school office if you would like to rent a table and spread the word to family and friends about this event. The Stop n' Shop is an event open to the entire community and they hope to see many visitors enjoying the festivities. Call the school at 494-1686.
This year's Fungi Fest will take place on 12th and 13th December on the Festival Village Grounds beginning, on the first day, with an opening ceremony at 7:30pm. Catch local bands like Virgin Gorda's Unity Vibes, the Elmore Stoutt High School Fungi Band and the Lashing Dogs and see visiting bands from Nevis, Anguilla, Dominica and St. Croix. Christmas just isn't Christmas without the sound of fungified carols!
Don't miss the Department of Information and Public Relations's Parade of Lights, a sure winner with children and the young-at-heart. Scheduled for Friday, 19th December at 7:00pm the parade route will extend from Government House, loop around the Road Town Roundabout and end at the Central Administration Building. Come out and see all the creative and festive ways in which civil servants will decorate government vehicles. The parade will be followed by a Christmas Extravaganza of drama, song and dance at the Building.
The organizers of the Long Bush Christmas Festival are promising a return to Virgin Islands culture and a focus on Christmas music. The festivities begin at the Bandstand on 24th December, Christmas Eve night, and continue for the next two successive nights. If you'd like to take part in the parade, sponsor a troupe, or contribute in some way call the Long Bush Committee at 494-3069.
Remember to take your re-usable bags with you as you do your Christmas shopping. They're not just for groceries!
