Road Harbor, Tortola: The BVI's largest Harbor
bordered by Road town; immigration & custom facilities; shops, restaurants,
grocery store and
marina close by
Soper's Hole,
West End Tortola: One of the main ports of
entry, deep and sheltered.
Restaurant, ferries,
marinas and immigration & custom clearance
Trellis Bay,
Beef Island: Sheltered anchorage bordered y semicircular
beach; restaurants,
water sports,
arts & crafts and Cyber
café on premises as well as airport close by
Marina Cay:
North of Trellis Bay - enter from the north to skirt coral. Moorings,
small beach, restaurant
The Baths, Virgin Gorda:
Southwestern shore; small grottoes and pools,
excellent snorkeling; overnight swells are common
North Sound,
Virgin Gorda: Eastern tip of the island,
surrounded by several islands, a variety of overnight anchorages;
northern Caquhoun Reef for
drafts greater than 5 feet; Anguilla Point entrance for
shallow drafts in calm weather
only; restaurants.
The
Dogs:
Between North Sound, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke; look to anchor on
calm days west of George Dog or on South side of Great Dog
Little Harbor,
Jost Van Dyke: Calm, quiet lagoon, 3 restaurants on
shore
Great harbor,
Jost Van Dyke: Well protected harbor bordered by
white sand beach and restaurant.
Sandy
Cay, Jost
Van Dyke: Long white sandy beach ; prone to
swells, good for a short day stop,
White Bay, Jost
Van Dyke: A channel through the reef provides
access; subject to swells in the winter; white sand beach and restaurant.
Deadman's Bay,
Peter Island: Easter tip; long beach at the yacht club;
prone to swells particularly in winter
Salt Island:
Location of the Wreck of the Rhone II ,
accessible by moorings at Lee Bay. Both Lee Bay and Salt Pond
Bay have rough anchorages - recommended for
day use only
Machioneel Bay,
Cooper's Island: Northwest shore; dock for dinghies,
beach and restaurant
The
Bight,
Norman Island: Uninhabited, hiking to the top of
the island; caves reachable by dinghy , moorings
Pelican Islands
& The Indians: Close to The Bight; good snorkeling
and scuba diving
